RU Open Task 3

What a great task, and I’m not only saying this because I was just behind the leaders I think all pilots that flew today will confirm that it was a very enjoyable task.

65.9kms seemed to wiz by flying with Debu and Jamie, both flying an amazing race and showing me that I still have a lot to learn about pushing harder rather than holding back. From the beginning we chose slightly different lines with Jamie, Debu and the rest of the gaggle flying slightly left to me with me sticking over the leeside of the ridge. Which for today seemed to work well.

Heading to the second WP we all had a fairly similar line along the ridge only really searching for lift before we had to get to TP2. Jamie and Debu hit the TP and quickly turned towards the middle of the bowl while I followed the ridge line to find some good lift that got me enough height to fly over Dicky Danda onto greenwall. Greenwall was working well and we quickly had height to cross over to TP4 and back onto Greenwall before heading towards Sarangkot for the final leg of the race.

we all seemed to hit some bad air approaching the bowl and I honestly thought that it was pretty much race over for me and Debu, as Jamie was already over the ridge line and gaining height to go over to TP6 constantly we seemed to be adding pressure to one another as we got closer to the end.

Seconds separated us at ESS with Debu leading the charge going for goal low and turning to find a nice dry place to land at the last moment, nice job Debu.
