RUopen2012

The competition draws closer day by day with more and more comp pilots hitting the skies to practice around the area. As a tandem pilot its getting a bit crowded and at times dangerous as some people are simply not looking at where they are going.

Looking at the waypoints it seems that there will be a lot of racing done around the Greenwall area. It’s a shame with the conditions improving that we are not getting more points placed further to the east towards Dhampus Greenwall as the flying there becomes challenging and would be a good proving ground for all level of pilots. I understand the logistics of it, as its much easier to collect everyone from Greenwall than the Dhampus area.

Slowly we are getting higher cloud base and the solo pilots are hitting some impressive thermals in the higher mountains and going further distance wise day by day. If the weather holds it looks like there will be some impressive flying to be had over the competition week.

For those of you that have not seen the information about the competition you can find it here

All those that are starting for the first time I wish you a positive learning experience and just remember, just because someone is ahead of you doesn’t mean that they will get to goal, fly your own race and learn from observation of other peoples flights. look at not only the good but also the bad and learn from these.

For the more experienced, looking forward to racing with you.

ill probably be taking less photos than in the Nepal Open but ill still try to do write ups with some photos and task descriptions.

See you all in the sky

This is great Stan. I’d like to read some other past entries, but can see no way to navigate to any of them from this page. A quick fix perhaps?
